Again, this is
roomongrandst's soccer/fangirling journal. The original LJ name is part of a line from the song "Disappointment," a solo song by Jim Cuddy, one of the frontmen of the Canadian band Blue Rodeo.
The lyrics read:
Do you remember
the room we shared on Grand Street?
I have been on the Grand Street in question; it's in Chinatown in Manhattan. I don't recall seeing anyone kicking around a soccer ball there.
I dreamt about Michael Ballack for three weeks straight after the World Cup, and now he is my favorite player. I agree with one person's assessment of him as "indecently pretty"...at least when he has long hair. I wear his Chelsea shirt far too often. I make a great advertisement for Samsung. They owe me a phone. I've been a David Beckham fan since 1998, which is a long time for an American. I don't have his jersey, but I have approximately 1,000 pictures of him from magazines. My favorite national team is France. I have two of their t-shirts from Euro 2000, and I desperately want a Zidane jersey if they still exist. My favorite city is Toronto. My favorite German music(ian) is Beethoven. I've both sung and played his ninth symphony.
During the World Cup, I decided to cheer for Ukraine (because I'm 1/4 Ukrainian), then they lost to Italy. Next I decided to cheer for Germany (because they're disturbingly hot), and they lost to Italy. Finally, I cheered for France because they're my favorite team, and they lost to Italy. I do not like the Italian national football team.
"Micha of the Living Dead" refers to the MLS All-Stars - Chelsea game when the entire Chelsea team was either replaced by Folgers Crystals or zombies. Mr. Ballack was definitely not completely present on the pitch.
I'm a "semi-professional violinist" and a published photographer.
All the keywords for my userpics start with the letter S.
I like to eat popcorn with goat cheese.
I may occasionally post in Spanish to counteract any German posts on my friends page ;)
Sometimes I like to write a series of short sentences to form a paragraph.
This journal will be mostly public.
roomongrandst will remain friends-only.
